Course Description: An introduction to the foundations of mathematics. We will study the major foundational programs---logicism, set theory, constructivism, finitism---and their answers to questions like: What are numbers and other mathematical objects? Are all mathematical truths provable? Do the axioms admit of justification? We will also discuss the limitations of these programs emanating from Gödel's incompleteness theorems and related results.
